Headquartered in France, the Toluna Group is one of the biggest online panel and survey-technology providers in the world. Its paid survey site is BBB-accredited with an A+ rating and is also affiliated with major industry organizations such as CASRO, AMA, MRA and ESOMAR among others. Toluna has 18 offices across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, and its panel consists of over 4.8 million members across 39 countries.

Member Experience

Becoming a Toluna member doesn't require any minimum time commitment, is completely free, and the registration process only takes about 5 minutes. To join, you must provide your name and contact information and create a unique login using a username and password of your choice. You will also have to answer a few basic background/demographic questions about yourself including your gender, date of birth, race, ethnicity, education level, employment and household (ie. size, children, income and primary grocery shopper). After you have verified your email address, your account will be activated and you will start receiving invitations to participate in paid research studies. You'll also receive 500 bonus points and 1 entry into Toluna's monthly sweepstakes as a ‘thank you' for joining. To be eligible for Toluna's North American panel, you just need to be a legal resident of the US or Canada and at least 13 years of age (or possibly older depending on the requirements of your region). If you are under 18, please note that any prize or cash reward you receive will be given to your legal guardian. Additionally, if you are a resident of Quebec, you are not eligible to take part in the monthly sweepstakes.

Earning Opportunities

As mentioned above, Toluna's members will earn 500 rewards points upon registering and an additional 100 points for each demographic profile they complete. Members can also earn 500 points for each new member they refer and 15 points for each sponsored mini poll they take. With that said, members will primarily earn rewards points for completing the research studies to which they are invited. Survey length and compensation will vary, but, typically, a survey will take around 20 minutes to complete and pay about 2,000 points ($0.66). Depending on client demand, you can expect to receive an average of 5 - 6 survey invitations per day. If you do not qualify for a survey you've received, Toluna will still compensate you for the time you spent responding with 1 entry into their monthly cash sweepstakes. Another way to earn even more rewards points is to apply to participate in product tests. If selected, Toluna will send you the product to test at home and then ask you to fill out a follow-up survey with your feedback (compensation varies but is substantially higher than the average survey).

Rewards Program

Toluna compensates its panelists for their participation with rewards points and with entries into sweepstakes. In monetary terms, 30,000 rewards points is equivalent to $10. After you have completed a survey or product test, please keep in mind that it can take up to 6 weeks for rewards points to be deposited into your account. You will still be able to review "pending credit" from the "Points" section of your account, but, in some cases, you will have to wait until the study has closed before receiving your reward. Toluna's sweepstakes are run on a monthly basis and give away five cash prizes including one Grand Prize of $2,500, one 1st place prize of $1,000, one 2nd place prize of $500, and two 3rd place prizes of $250. Points expire 1 year from the date they were earned.
